Horse SafariThe terrain is a unique mix of gently rolling Aravali hills interspaced by sand dunes and agricultural fields. Since the tracks follow the general lay of the land, the horse safari takes you through picturesque ravines covered in sand, making it ideal for riding. We ride for approx. 6 hours each day covering 30 km amidst natural surroundings and camp at pre-destined sites chosen for their location and character. While you ride with experienced accompanying leaders, your royal entourage of camp chefs, housekeepers and grooms take care of all arrangements. The safari transports you to a bygone era when such camps were used for royal hunts. Accommodation is in spacious twin bedded tents with en-suite facilities. All meals are cooked fresh and served hot under strict hygiene conditions. Your mounts are the fabled Marwari breed, which served as battle horses for the Rajput cavalries. An extremely sturdy breed, the Marwaris are able to take thirst and heat in their stride because of their thin skin and are ridden unshod as the sand offers soft cushioning to the hoofs. All the horses we use are from the Siana stable, who have a long history of breeding Marwaris and it shows in the training of the horses. For the wildlife enthusiasts the area offers quite a few surprises and it's not uncommon to see leopards, usually considered elusive. The other predators include lesser felines like Jungle Cat and Indian Civet, striped hyena and the jungle fox. Antelopes here are the Nilgai (Blue Bull) and the elegant Chinkara (Indian Gazelle). Winters play host to many migratory birds including large concentrations of Demoiselle cranes, flamingos, ducks and geese.
